Polymer flooring technology
has increased dramatically in the last several years. We can now
accomplish in 1 day what used
to take 5 days and have a stronger more durable floor! Our “granite” finish
is our most popular coating. Our Poly-Aspartic floor allows a very
quick dry time letting you get back on your floor in most cases the
very next day! This floor has a higher “pounds per square inch” rating
than the concrete it bonds to! And the UV stability assures you it
will not turn yellow when exposed to sunlight. The benefits of this
style flooring besides the obvious beauty, is it is very easy to clean,
keeps dust down, reflects light, helps hide dirt, and adds resale value
to your home.
This is the process:
- Step 1: We grind the floor with diamond grinders taking a thin
layer off the top exposing the pores and giving the base something
to
bind to. We never use acid! Acid etching is potentially dangerous,
inconsistent,
and will not open the pores in the concrete like grinding does!
- Step 2: Now that the floor has been ground and cleaned, we can
apply the base coat. After the base coat has been applied we broadcast
the colored chips into the wet finish. The chips bind down into
the
wet
coat but still are exposed enough to give the top clear coat
something to attach to.
- Step 3: We are ready to apply the top coat. We use special rollers
designed to give a smooth, streak-free finish that will impress
even the most discriminating owner. This is the same 3 step process
that
we use to cover the stem walls and any wood based stairs that
go into the house.
We are often asked if the average home owner
can buy our products and do it themselves. Unfortunately, the answer
is no. Because these
products have such a quick cure rate the time given to mix and apply
the coat is so short that even a few minutes can make the difference
between a floor that looks great and a floor that will have to be stripped
and redone! At over $100 a gallon this is not something you want to
make a mistake with. Many “epoxy” products you can buy
at paint stores or home centers are very user friendly and allow the
installer several hours to get the product applied. The down side is
these do-it-yourself products never last as long as the professionally
applied products.
